THE TALK: Give Jamie O'Hara a bonus

THE TALK
TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR. POSTED BY DAN CARRIER.

WITH the news that Aston Villa and Newcastle are considering a bid for Jamie O'Hara in the summer, isn't it time Spurs introduced a no-play bonus to its squad players to keep them happy? O'Hara was simply superb in Pompey's quarter final victory against Birmingham at the weekend – he ran for the entire 90, carrying the game to the Brummies brilliantly. I swooned as I watched him, in the final minute,  cantered up the length of the pitch and nearly got on the score sheet himself.

Oh how we could have done with O'Hara (and for that matter Keane) in the past couple of weeks to help things ticking along. While of course its hard to keep a big squad happy, and players want to play every game, the trick of good management is to make sure every one feels they are appreciated. If putting an arm round them and saying we love you and your chance will come doesn't wash, why not turn the performance bonus culture on its head and pay 'em extra for bench warming?

Just a thought...

Meanwhile, Wilson Palacios is quoted in the papers this morning of playing his best in the hope it would one day bring a move to Real Madrid. Note to Wilson: same here, chum – if you've got some scouts heading over, tell them I sometimes have a kickabout on Mondays after work behind the Lid
