Rock and Pop: A look ahead to the daytime events at Camden Crawl

Graham Coxon playing at last year’s Camden Crawl in the Spread Eagle

EVERY year the Camden Crawl is so packed with bands and singers that we hardly have time to pay attention to the daytime programme. So this year we’re starting early. Tickets are already on sale for this year’s Gaymer’s Crawl, which falls on the May Bank Holiday weekend – giving us a whole day to rest our weary feet after the two-day extravaganza featuring 200 acts across 40 Camden venues. So, what’s happening while the sun’s up?

Comedy
CAMDEN FRINGE (Sat, Fifty Five): cabaret, comedy and variety.
THE FIX (Sat & and Sun, Camden Head): The best new sketch and stand-up comedy.
MYSTER GENERAL & FRIENDS (Sun, Fifty Five): Brendan Cleaves and Kurt Driver present comedy and general craziness. Think Butlins on acid.

BOOKSLAM (Sat, Edinboro Castle): Novelists, poets and musicians
LITROLIVE! (Sun, Edinboro Castle): Authors, poets, musicians, live music and DJs.

SKIPTHEATRE (Sat @ The Crescent):  Artists, bands and DJs, live music and theatrical mayhem.

Visual Arts and Crafts

Live music

FIERCE PANDA SHOWCASE (Sun @ Lock Tavern): they brought us the likes of The Walkmen, Hatcham Social, The Raveonettes, Goldheart Assembly.
HAWLEY ARMS SESSIONS (Sat & Sun @ The Hawley Arms): acoustic sessions from friends and favourite acts.
