Next week City University launches its documentary film week.
The programme is packed with goodies, and for £5 a time, it’s a great way to see some the best documentaries of the past couple of years, including lively discussions afterwards.
Kicking off on January 25, the first film is Mexican offering Presumed Guilty.
It was made by two lawyers who were trying to get a man who they believed was innocent off serious charges.
Also showing is the wonderfully scary Gaslands, which tells the story of how America is poisoning itself by “fracking” – pumping a secret cocktail of chemicals into vast underground reserves of natural gas to force it to the surface.
It is causing hideous cancer clusters, and all for the ruthless pursuit of profit by energy companies.
The week rounds off with You've Been Trumped, which tells the story of how Donald Trump went about trying to build a whopping great golf course in Scotland – and found not everyone living there was exactly thrilled to see their homes and landscapes ruined by the greens and fairways.
