Cinema - Latest news: Jim Broadbent Q&A at Tricycle Theatre

AT  the Renoir in Brunswick Square tonight (Thursday), French director Mia Hanson-Love will be answering questions about her new film, The Father of my Children.

She is eloquent – I saw a French interview with her a couple of weeks ago and she takes no prisoners.  Her movie is wonderful.

It starts at 6.10pm and is worth a look.

Other Q and As in the pipeline include one with a top British actor, Jim Broadbent.

I have always loved him, and can forgive him his occasionally lapse into Richard Curtis-style British schmaltz – after all, what is a jobbing actor meant to do?

He is heading to the Tricycle in Kilburn on March 20 and 21 to present a special preview of his latest film, Perrier’s Bounty, as part of their Irish cinema weekend.

Jim plays a man on the run in Dublin and I am looking forward to catching him speak about it.

Meanwhile, I hear that members of the Prince Charles Cinema can rock up and watch the Bad Lieutenant remake on Saturday for free.

It’s because that gorgeous indie cinema has just spruced up its downstairs auditorium and so if you are a member, you can get a sneaky look at the paint job, and if you are not, you can rue the fact you have yet to join this most excellent of picture houses.
