COWS moo-ved into the Kenwood House dairy for the Summer Fête on Hampstead Heath at the weekend.
Butter-churning, music, a dog show, bake-offs and horse and carriage rides were among the most popular attractions.
The little-known dairy’s future is now much brighter following an injection of Heritage Lottery Fund cash.
The newly refurbished main Kenwood House was unveiled a fortnight ago. Architect Robert Adam’s original neoclassical interiors are now on view while new rooms will be open to the public in November.
A spokesman for English Heritage said: “We hope Kenwood will feel more like a home rather than just a gallery.”
