A PARAMEDIC on his way to help a woman who had been hit by a bus collided with a taxi before his motorbike burst into flames.
The rider was thrown from his seat on one of the busiest stretches of Euston Road on Saturday at 5.30pm.
Bliss Moore, 20, who immediately called an ambulance, was waiting outside the nearby Wellcome Trust when she saw the crash and rushed over to the injured paramedic.
She said: “I was standing outside the centre with my little sister and her friend, and I had just told them to stand right back because it is a really busy road, and then it happened.
“It was a really loud bang and we saw the taxi out in the middle of the road and the bike on the floor. He must have been thrown about 10 feet from the bike and was lying on the floor. I was just talking to him.”
Ms Moore added: “He was really amazing, even though he was badly injured the first thing he said was telling us to get in touch with the Ambulance Service and tell them who he was, where he was going and to make sure that someone else went instead of him – he was speaking in the ambulance codes, really he was so amazing thinking of other people when that had just happened.”
A police car arrived within minutes, blocking off the road and Ms Moore stayed with the paramedic until an ambulance arrived shortly after.
The paramedic suffered injuries to his pelvis, arm and wrist but has since been discharged from hospital.
A woman in her 40s, who the paramedic was on his way to help in Tottenham Court Road, was taken to St Mary’s hospital by another ambulance which arrived within five minutes of being called. She remains in hospital in a serious condition.
A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “One of our motorcycle responders was involved in a collision while on the way to an emergency call on Saturday.
“He was on his way to an incident at Warren Street Underground Station, when he collided with a car on Euston Road just after 5.30pm.
“Another ambulance crew, a single responder in a car and London’s air ambulance team in a car were sent to the original call, where a woman in her 40s had been hit by a bus.”
A police spokeswoman said officers were called to Euston Road at 5.45pm and traffic officers are investigating the incident. No arrests have been made.

If you witnessed it then contact the met
Motorcycle and single
Motorcycle and single occupant ambulance cars only exist to meet the 8 minute targets set by the government for emergency crews to get to patients but they are very dangerous, for a lot of reasons but particularly for the brave staff who work on them. Politics ruins everything, even something as altruistic as the ambulance service.
I was there - The paramedic
I was there - The paramedic was ?German I could here him talking in a Germanic accent.
Errm, no. He is not German.
Errm, no. He is not German. And so what if he was?
Paramedic Rider
I know the Paramedic, that was thrown from his bike. He always thinks of others first, especially the patients that he attends to . It is a real shame what happened to him, he is such a careful and thoughtful rider too. I was completely shocked to hear and glad to hear he is alright.
Further information!
I was a eye witness to the scene and would like to engage in more information relevant to ths article. is there a way of me contatcing the traffic office or the local police to require specific information? also would relish the chance to speak to anyone else who was present at the time of the incident?
Relish the chance
Perhaps a strange term to use?
You sound like you want to complain about the taxi or the paramedic. In any case both have had a nasty shock and one has serious sounding injuries.
You should have spoken to police at the time.
Maybe you are a cyclist and want to complain about that junction and have seen a number of accidents there. If so you should write to TFL.
I'm intreeged but more so by your phrasing.
Sounds like you want to sell
Sounds like you want to sell something. No win No fee?. If you witnessed the event why did you not speak to the police at the time and why were you not helping out the woman who rushed to help the paramedic?
you sound like an idiot,
you sound like an idiot, just trying to get in on the action.
if you had anything important to say you would have said it at the scene, if you really were there. statments would have been taken, and the junction is covered by cameras

The ambulance motorbikes do
The ambulance motorbikes do am important and dangerous job riding through some of the busiest roads in London. It is a testament to their skill that this type of thing is rare.
Wishing a speedy recovery to one of London's unsung heroes.
An angel for a hero.
I am sure that brave paramedic would have been comforted by Bliss just being there for him.
These people put there lives at risk every day for us and most people would have just stood and watched, leaving it for someone else to sort out.
Bliss stood up to be counted and should be proud of herself.
Well done to her and I wish a full and speedy recovery for the paramedic.
Totally agree. Well done to
Totally agree. Well done to both of them.
