A RECEPTIONIST at the Whittington helped deliver a baby in a taxi outside the Highgate hospital.

Shareefa La’Force dashed out to help Mbu Mbasia as she began giving birth in Magdala Avenue.

The mother, from Edmonton, got to the hospital by taxi last Wednesday.

But the head and shoulders of little baby Ethan had already popped out by the time the midwives arrived.

Ms La’Force had climbed in the back of the cab and covered the mother with a coat and helped calm her down.

She said: “I was crying, she was crying, everyone was crying.

Then the midwives arrived and took her to maternity.

I’m still in total shock!”

Ms La’Force was recently named “best customer services staff member” in the hospital’s annual awards.

A spokeswoman for Whittington Health said both mother and baby are healthy and well.
