Pavement hazard and lost trade for Camden Road businesses, as burst water pipe left to spill

A BURST pipe has been left to spill water onto one of the main roads in Camden Town for more than two weeks.

Water on the pavement near the World’s End pub in Camden Road has become too wide to step over. Cenic Ferid, manager of King of Falafel restaurant, said the leak had halved his trade.

“People see the river and walk straight past,” he said.

“What can I do?”

An engineer from Thames Water unsuccessfully attempted to fix the leak in the early hours of February 6.

A spokesman for Thames Water said the work had not been completed because engineers were working out how to get it done without disconnecting supplies to the pub.

The World’s End said it could be fixed without disrupting its business.

A Thames Water spokesman said: “Because of the cold snap, we are having to deal with double the amount of burst pipes on our 20,000-mile network.

Our engineers are trying to find a way to fix the problem without cutting the pub off.”
