POWER cuts are causing problems for surgeons at the hospital that treated Labour leader Ed Miliband.
Faulty cabling at the Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital (RNTNEH) in Grays Inn Road is believed to be behind the
blackouts.
Staff told the New Journal that the problem had caused heart-rate monitors to cut out during surgery.
Mr Miliband had nasal surgery to correct his sleep apnoea at the RNTNEH.
A spokesman for the Royal Free Hospital, which runs the service, insisted patients have not been affected and that the problem lasted just two days.
She added: “An intermittent electrical fault occurred on 18 and 19 January, affecting one area of the hospital.
At no point was there any risk to patient safety.”
University College London Hospital CLH has applied to take over RNTHEH from the Royal Free.
A final decision is expected on March 16.
