Misleading

Published: 2 January, 2012

• With reference to your report (‘You ride too rough!’, January 26), Camden Cycling Campaign (CCC) have been grateful for the New Journal’s continued backing of the campaign for safety at the King’s Cross junction but I feel that it was misleading to draw so much attention to the fact that London Cycling Campaign (LCC) central office felt unable to associate itself with some aspects of these protests, particularly when the local groups were clearly participating.

CCC is the local group of LCC and we have attended both of the Bikes Alive demos as well as publicising them.

So have members of the Islington group and other local LCC groups.

In fact CCC were already campaigning for improvements at the junction before the demos started and welcome any action that will make Transport for London see sense.

The most important thing is to get this junction made safe for cyclists and it isn’t helpful to give the impression that LCC is out of touch when the local groups are campaigning hard.
