• Labour councillors try to absolve themselves of all responsibility of putting up council rents saying that housing repairs would suffer, but this is inexcusable where there remains a high level of inefficiency in repairs work.
I am surprised councillors Sally Gimson and Meric Apak (Concerns, January 26) have not taken more action to explore other alternatives.
Why doesn’t the council seek to improve the housing repairs service by strengthening the monitoring and enforcement of results on the expensive and ill-regarded private contracts and look towards ending this disastrous privatisation of repair services?
