Safety at junctions

Published: 20 October, 2011

• THANK you for your coverage on the latest fatal accident (Tragic cyclist’s ‘ideas will live on,’ students promise, October 13).

I see that Camden is drawing up a plan to try to bring benefits from all the new building on the King’s Cross Railway Lands to residents south of the Euston Road.

This acknowledges the roads bisecting our neighbourhood are “difficult to negotiate”.

This starts to recognise the problem, but the solution seems nowhere near.

The council merely says it will “continue to highlight the importance of crossings” at the junction of Euston Road, Gray’s Inn Road and York Way where Min Joo Lee died and across Euston Road by the British Library.

It should do more. It should make developers pay towards safe junctions and itself contribute in return for getting permission for new council offices by St Pancras.
