I NOTICE that a section of Parkway in Camden Town set aside for “Boris bikes” is turning the congested road into even more of a crawl for drivers.
It has reduced part of the narrow three-lane road to two lanes – and this, along with traffic lights installed by Transport for London (TfL) a couple of years ago at the junction of Arlington Road, helps to create a bottleneck leading back hundreds of yards to Albany Street.
Experts at TfL cannot help moving the furniture around.
First came the Arlington Road traffic lights set up two years ago which slowed down the heavy stream of vehicles from Albany Street.
Now, they have removed the island facing Camden Town tube station to widen the pavement in front of the HSBC bank as part of a pedestrianisation of the area.
It was only four or five years ago, apparently, that extra traffic lights were installed on the island to help pedestrians cross the junction.
What will TFL come up with next?

The Boris bikes in parkway
The Boris bikes in parkway block, pedestrians and cyclists.
They increase the traffic density.
There an accident waiting to happen.

No Problem
A drivers bottleneck is a pedestrians walking street. Seems like a good solution in that part of Camden.
